Marianne de Visseris an adult neurologist and Emeritus Professor of Neuromuscular Diseases at the University of Amsterdam. For over 30 years, she led the neuromuscular group at the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, focusing on hereditary and acquired neuromuscular diseases, such as ALS and myositis. She is still involved in research on myositis and on sex- and gender differences in neuromuscular disorders. She has authored over 400 peer-reviewed scientific publications and contributions to medical books, edited 4 books on neuromuscular diseases, holds editorial roles in several neurology journals, and held several leadership positions in (inter)national neurological organisations, such as the Netherlands Society of Neurology, World Muscle Society, European Academy of Neurology, World Federation of Neurology, and since 2017 she is a member of the Executive Board of the ERN-EURO-NMD.
