Dr. Peter Korsten is a board-certified Rheumatologist, Intensivist, and Immunologist. He received training at the Department of Nephrology and Rheumatology, University Medical Center Göttingen in Göttingen, Germany, from 2009 to 2023. Since September 2023, he has been the Department Chief of the Department of Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology at St. Josef-Stift Sendenhorst, near Münster in the Northwestern region of Germany. The department is the second largest inpatient service in the country. He has served as Secretary of iMyoS, the International Myositis Society, until November 2025, and is currently Associate Board Member of iMyoS.
His clinical research interests focus on systemic diseases, including SLE, scleroderma, myositis, vasculitis, and sarcoidosis. Dr. Korsten has a special interest in affected organs, such as the lungs and kidneys, in these diseases. Also, he serves as principal investigator for clinical trials in various autoimmune conditions.
