Since the very beginning of my Specialization in Pediatrics, my personal interest has been particularly focused on Pediatric Rheumatology, thanks to both my regular attendance of the Rheumatologic Department at Istituto Giannina Gaslini, Genova, and my active contribution to the research activities of the same Unit. More in detail, I have cooperated as co-author in the writing of publications on international pediatric rheumatology journals, and I have taken part in national and international meetings, where I presented the results of some of our group’s projects as posters or oral presentations. During the last six months of my specialization – corresponding to the first period of my Post-doctoral training – I also had the great opportunity of working at the Rheumatology Department of Great Ormond Street Hospital, London. For the last 8 years of my career, I focused my attention in particular on Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM), especially on the development and validation of new physician- and parent-centered outcome measures to be used in the clinical and research field. In particular, My Post-doctoral Degree project was aimed at the development and validation of a new composite disease activity score for JDM, named the Juvenile DermatoMyositis Activity Index (JDMAI) (Rosina S et al, Rheumatology 2019), whose cutoffs have been more recently published (Rosina S et al, RMD Oper 2024). More recently, I was actively involved in the international efforts that brought to the development of recommendations for treating JDM to target (Ravelli A, et al. Ann Rheum Dis 2025; Mac Mahon JM, et al. Arthritis Rheumatol 2025). Furthermore, I am the current secretary of the PReS JDM working party, and a member of the Myositis Clinical Trials Consortium Core Group.
